Faith and Education

I grew up a practicing Catholic, having participated in the sacriments of being part of the Catholic community.  It was here that I built my personal pillars of faith that have guided my philosophy of education to this day.

It is the Catholic values that I believe in the most.  Human dignity, humanitariansm, stewardship, forgiveness, compassion, reconciliation, community, and faith guide the outcomes of education and learning within my classroom.  Building up the student and ensuring that they are better humans/people when they exit our classroom is at the centre of my educational philosophy.

I worry too often that non-Catholics believe that over-evangelization is occuring within the walls of a Catholic school, when really our education system is about upholding the pillars of humanity and instilling values, morals, and the faith to use the knowledge gained to pursue positive impacts on humankind.
